Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the company is building an SUV “at the fastest possible speed” to be delivered in 2019.
Musk, who is a prolific writer on Tesla, recently wrote in a Medium post that the SUV will be built in “the fastest possible time” by the end of 2019.
The SUV will use a chassis that was built by Savage, a subsidiary of the German automotive giant, to meet Tesla’s goal of hitting production in 2019, according to Musk.
The company will make the SUV in partnership with Chrysler Group, and it is expected to have a production range of at least 100,000 vehicles per year, according the post.
The automaker is currently using a production facility in Fremont, California, but Musk said the SUV would be able to be built at its Fremont plant faster than its current plant in China.
The new SUV will feature a front and rear trunk that can be used for storage.
Musk said that the new SUV is built on “top of the best” technology currently available.
Musk also hinted that Tesla is working on a battery pack that is “at least 50% smaller than the current generation.”
That battery pack would have an electric charge that would be stored in the battery packs’ batteries, Musk said.
The battery packs in the new Tesla SUV could have a range of 400 miles on a full charge.
Musk did not specify the size of the battery pack or the amount of energy it would store, but he did say it would be a “significant improvement” over the current Tesla battery packs.
Musk has previously said that Tesla’s battery packs could be “10 to 20 times more powerful” than those of other manufacturers.
Musk’s previous comments about Tesla’s batteries have not been confirmed by Tesla.
Tesla’s first battery packs were only able to store between 200 and 500 watts of energy, according a blog post from Tesla.
Musk says Tesla’s future vehicles will have “a much larger battery than the battery sizes of other cars.”
He also said that “the Tesla battery pack will have the potential to be 10 to 20 percent bigger than the size and weight of the current battery pack.”
The company has also promised to deliver an “unbeatable performance in a shorter period of time than ever before.”
Musk has said that a Tesla electric car will “drive from California to New York in under six hours.”
Musk also said Tesla would be capable of delivering its vehicles in under five years, and said that it would “not be a car for anyone who doesn’t have a solid grasp of basic physics.”
Musk is working to make Tesla an even better product, and his goal is to bring the company’s production rate up to 90,000 cars per year by the year 2021.
Tesla has not yet revealed when the SUV is expected be released.
