After a turbulent few years, Supercars will be relaunching as a new company, and it will be run by former Australian racing driver Tony Kanaan.
The company will focus on the development of high performance and high-performance road cars, and is hoping to create a new global brand.
“We want to take a little bit of that old Supercars and turn it into something that has the appeal and the appeal of the best-selling Australian sports car manufacturer,” Tony Kainan, Supercar’s CEO, told The Australian.
“I know there are some people who are sceptical about the idea, but the reality is we are going to do the best we can to be the best Australian road racing brand in the world.”
Kanaen is one of the most successful racing drivers of all time, having won 11 championships, a record he’s held since his Supercars debut in 2005.
“Tony Kanaans Supercars career has been nothing short of amazing,” Supercars CEO Tony Kaidan said.
