A manhunt has begun for a man who’s missing since the fatal collision between a car and a semi-trailer in Toronto.
The man, who was not identified, is believed to have died from blunt force trauma to his head and upper body.
A woman who was driving in the same vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said the man and woman were both travelling westbound on Highway 401 at about 4:15 a.m. when they collided head-on with a semi.
“He was struck by a large object and sustained multiple head injuries,” Toronto police spokesperson Cpl.
Jennifer Evans said.
A large metal object struck the front of the cab of the semi, sending it rolling.
The man’s body was found at about 3:30 a.u.m., according to the Toronto Fire Service.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, who also was travelling in the truck, was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover, police said.
Investigators have not released a description of the truck involved.
It’s the second such crash in Toronto in less than two weeks.
A man died in a fatal crash on Highway 427 on Feb. 10, and another man was killed in a collision on Highway 417 in May.
